Description

The overall Quemahoning (Que) Trail forms a 16-mile loop around the Quemahoning Reservoir with multiple access points. This is broken into multiple listings, split by road interruptions or access points, to provide shorter, section-specific descriptions. Descriptions are counterclockwise. Trail entrances and road crossings are marked by yellow arrows on brown posts. All segments are non-motorized and non-equestrian.

• This section extends from Jerome Sportsman's parking to the Green Bridge causeway.
• Parking is available at Jerome Sportsman's, a quarter mile back at the Conemaugh Twp lot, or ahead at the Que Family Recreation Area.
• The trail begins on the landward side of the road between the far parking area and the single lane bridge.
• The first 2.5 miles are generally beginner terrain.
• Proceeding counterclockwise from the beginning, you'll climb about 100' in the first half mile, passing the connector to the Family Recreation area on your left, just beyond the switchbacks.
• The trail crosses Pheasant Road after a short downhill through some switchbacks.
• The next mile is a gradual downhill, winding through a few broad drainageways, crossing an abandoned driveway and Mastillo Road before dropping out onto Quemahoning Dam Road to cross a one-lane bridge over a small stream.
• This section becomes more intermediate terrain beyond this point due to a climb and sidehill position of the trail.
• Gear down for the short steep climb as the trail cuts back in on the right, beyond the bridge.
• The trail bends at the top of the climb to follow a steep sidehill powerline looking down on the road.
• Be prepared for two abrupt drainage crossings before turning away from the road.
• The trail follows a gradual rock descent when it returns to and drops out on the road at the Green Bridge causeway intersection. Be cautious of traffic dropping out onto the road.
• Continue across the causeway to the parking on the far, right side to continue.
