A long, fun descent to the dam one way or a long, grinding climb the other. Great view at the top.

Description

This is the Vail Lake Fire Road that loops around the large trail area. You can ride this in either direction or loop around and connect to a variety of trails along the path. The fire road described here begins at the top of the mountain and drops quickly down the the dam.

The road is very steep in some sections (hence the black diamond); some of the corners are loose and can be intimidating at full speed. It pays to take a quick break at the dam to catch your breath, relax your grip, and have a look around before continuing to the base of the mountain and going up for another run.
