Overview

The easiest loop at Moraine State Park. This counterclockwise ride connects Southern Peninsula, Powerline Trail, and Western Powerline to Lake with some challenging terrain to hone your skills and aerobic fitness.

Description

This is the easiest loop that can be had at Moraine State Park.

Leaving the Marina Parking Lot, take the doubletrack over the wooden bridge and to the right. Continue up the doubletrack hill and take the second right turn onto Southern Peninsula Trail.

Southern Peninsula is the flattest, and least technical singletrack at Moraine. This is as easy as the trails get at Moraine State Park, and there are still some pretty steep climbs/rooted descents, it is a nice warm up for the climbing up next!

Turn left and get ready for almost a mile of climbing! Climb up the wide, loose gravel doubletrack, and once near the top, you'll turn right on the Switchback Climb to Powerline. This is the least technical singletrack climb at Moraine, but can still be difficult for beginners.

Turn left on Powerline to Alexander Ridge Parking trail, until you turn left again on the Powerline Trail. The Powerline Trail is a gradual descent with a good bit of rocks. Can be a good place to start learning rock riding for beginners.

This will then connect you to the Western Powerline to Lake where you'll get to enjoy the best, and fastest, descent at Moraine. Western Powerline to Lake is a a super fast and fun downhill that brings you to many developed natural rock features. Expect aggressive terrain and well-placed natural rock features. Very fast speeds can be easily obtained, and features/trees will sneak up on you in a hurry!

Near the lowest part of the trail, near the marina, take a right hand turn on the Marina Connector and you'll pop out just before the wooden bridge right near the the Marina Parking Lot.
