Family Friendly This trail makes for a nice, easy loop with the start of Coal Camp Trail.

Winter Season Closure - Dec. 1 through April 30th. Opening day is May 1st. One Way Only: This is designated as a directional trail.

Description

This downhill-only trail provides either a finish to a longer Coal Camp Trail ride, or offers the opportunity for some fun, easy, fast laps from South Canyon Park's upper trailhead parking area when paired with the bottom 0.4 miles of Coal Camp Trail.

The trail is characterized by many sculpted berms that are more about maintaining flow and speed than creating any major turns. A few rollers create opportunities for air time, but everything is easily rollable. The terrain is a gentle slope descending from west to east, moving through forested areas into meadows, and ending in a dense stand of oak trees before arriving back at the parking lot.

For beginners who are not ready to ride the sculpted berms, you can ride down the Coal Camp Trail since it is open to two-way traffic on its lower segments. Climbing Coal Camp Trail, descending this trail, and maybe lapping it a couple times, is a worthy addition to any shuttle riding in South Canyon that is focused on shuttling Lightning Bug.
