Family Friendly Open reservoir area with picnic tables and parking.

Trails close at sundown.

Need to Know

There are a lot of trails that spur off of this one. Heed the signs for "No Bike". To help with current talks to expand biking in and around the Loch Raven Reservoir, please do not bike on "No Bike" trails. Park closes at sun-down.

Description

The parking at the start of this trail can accept approximately 10-15 vehicles.

Start by walking the wood road trail at the trail gate - the bike trail is your first trail to left about 20 feet into the woods rd. Note that staying right on the path/going straight will result in being on a "No Bike" trail so please make the first left turn on the trail. Climb up to the top of the hill where you'll reach a clearing with powerlines overhead. Take a right at the clearing and stay on the fire road/doubletrack heading into the woods.

After some pedaling, the hill gradually starts to decline and eventually turns into a super fun downhill (capable of 40+mph!) with culverts that are prime for catching air. To stay on this trail, keep right as the descent gets steeper. The end of this trail is one of the most fun descents in the Loch Raven Reservoir Area for sure! There are many spurs off of this trail but be aware that many state "No Trespassing" or "No Bike". Please heed those signs. The trail finishes at the road which can be ridden back to the parking lot.

Note that the trail looks like it can continue up and to the right at the bottom of the hill but there is a "No Bike" sign on the tree. Please heed that sign.

Dry and fast on this short climb-plateau-downhill trail great for a quick, run trail ride or a few training laps. Classic east coast db/sgl track 1.9mi

Tree down at end of trail just before you start seeing the road. If you’re not looking ahead on the final descent it can surprise you.
