Description

West Cowpen Road is part of the big loop (the Cohutta Death March) circling the Couhutta and Big Frog Wildernesses on the Georgia-Tennessee border.

Most of this forest road is heavily forested, but there are a couple of places where the canopy breaks and you get a long range view of northwest Georgia. If you are climbing in the direction shown (north to south), the nearly 2000 feet climb up to the junction with Potato Patch Road (FS 68) is probably the "highlight" of the route.

This road also offers access to the underutilized Sumac Creek Trail (#217).
