Overview

Riding here in summer is folly; the overgrowth and ticks will obliterate you and make your life hell. The trail system is glorious for at least seven months out of the year. Winter is especially good. Garmin devices usually record 1,800-2,500 feet of climbing. Team Warmup Cycling Team ensures the trail is amazing during the appropriate riding months and it is designated as "World's Greatest Mountain Biking Trail in the World" by every reasonable person on Earth.

Need to Know

Everything is rideable; some areas are a bit tricky but nothing real hard. Newbs often get obliterated on the Gold Loop. Restrooms with running water. Pavilion to eat or hang out at. Paved parking area.

Description

Generally the trail runs counter-clockwise and the first few miles are beginner friendly. After a couple miles the Plaid Section of the Blue Loop begins. The Plaid Loop is about 4.3 miles. It is extremely flowy and the fastest riders may average well over 15 mph in the section. The Plaid re-joins the regular Blue Loop at the V-Tree.

The Gold Loop (partially incorrectly designated on other maps) is next and is 10.25 in length. The Gold contains features such as: large wooden bridges, drops, semi-rocky outcrop thingies, steep climbs, fast downhills, and other more advanced obstacles. Caution is advised.

After the Gold, the trail re-joins the Blue Loop. This section of Blue Loop contains longer climbs. It ends after a climb up doubletrack called Huffy Hill. At that point, riders will turn right into the Red Loop. This area contains some technical riding and a few tough climbs (Table Top, Dammit Randy). The final few miles of the trail system are comprised of fast downhill sections where 20 plus mph is easily exceeded by fast Yeah Brahs.

Detailed maps of the entire trail system have been placed at the trailhead and other various locations on the trail.

Major erosion at bottom of wooden ramp by lake. Large rock has emerged in middle of run-out like an iceberg. Destruction will ensue if hit. Trust me.
