Overview

A loop through Binkley's tight and twisty singletrack with short punchy climbs and plenty of turns and wooden features spread throughout.

Need to Know

Herman Baker Loop Trail is a nature trail with no trail signage so be prepared for and respectful to hikers traveling in both directions.

Description

This ride features several wooden ladders, drops, and berms. Please look before you leap. All the features have the same scale as the skills area near the parking lot so practice there first.

There are two tunnels for the ride that keep you from having to cross W Center Street. Note that the tunnels are two-way traffic.

Generally, you take all lefts to go longer (clockwise as mapped), and rights to exit, with the exception of entering Lewters Luge. The trailhead is located in the northeast corner of the field past the gazebo if you are in the parking lot.

Start by heading north onto Binkley Park Trail, heading clockwise for a two-mile warm-up. Back at the trailhead, head down Binkley Park Road looking for Land of the Lost on the right. Snake through this trail to the southwest, continuing onto Hall Pass toward the tunnel under W Center Street.

Continue south onto Dam Climb toward Pickens Lake and the Herman Baker Loop Trail, which you take clockwise around the lake. Yield the right of way to hikers through this trail. From the parking lot, continue north on Baker Park Rd looking for the start of Bakers Dozen to the right before W Center Street. This trail parallels the road for a third of a mile before rejoining Dam Climb near the tunnel.

Turn left (north) back onto Dam Climb to Bobcat Boogie for a quick loop and then continue onto Easy Street to access Lewters Luge for another quick loop. Turn right to rejoin Easy Street as it merges with East Bound and Down which takes you back to the start.
