Description

This trail provides fantastic views of the lake as well as the surrounding valley. The lake itself is a reservoir high above the valley floor, and it is common to see fishermen casting in small inlets around the lake. The trail is on the steep mountainsides about 20 feet above the water and does not have any direct water access. The surrounding hills have pretty and fragrant wildflowers during the bloom season from March to June. For more information on the wildflowers, see the flyer at: dvlake.com/Wildflowers.pdf

Drive up the steep hill and park at the Diamond Valley Lake Marina. Note that you need to pay for both parking and trail access, as of Feb 2018 this was $9 to park and $2 per person to access the trail.

The loop around the lake is 22 miles, 80% a doubletrack dirt road with small rocks that can make a bumpy ride. 20% is smooth pavement over the dams, where you'll see great views of the surrounding valley.

The ride is almost entirely flat, and there is virtually no shade on the entire route so wear sunscreen and bring water. Rideing at a moderate pace you should be able to complete the loop in three hours. There are restrooms (port-a-potty) spaced about five miles apart along the entire route.

This is a mixed-use trail, you'll encounter hikers and runners throughout. No dogs allowed.

I went from the east around the lake. Great views, and fairly flat with a couple climbs. Tons of quails were spotted as well as tons of lizards, and e 22mi — 2h 45m
