Description

This road begins at the Strada Statale (State Highway) SS239 just north of Sant'Antonio di Mavignota. The first 3.2km (2 mi) until the intersection with Lago di val Agola are paved as they travel through pastureland in the Vallesinella (valley).

After that, the road becomes unpaved, and it begins an arduous 360m (1200 ft) climb over the next 3.2km (2 mi) to reach the Rifugio Vallesinella (mountain hut). Here you can obtain refreshments and light meals.

There are three waterfalls along the route. The first, at 4.6km (2.9 mi) is the Cascate di Sotto (Lower Falls). The most impressive is the Cascate di Mezzo (Middle Falls) at 5.3km (3.3 mi). There are several foot paths that go down towards the waterfall. The forest road ends a few hundred meters (yards) below the Cascate di Alta (High Falls). There is a steep (150m; 500 ft) climbing footpath that leads up to it.
