The end of the ride drops down into a camp and I've heard you're supposed to let them know prior to riding, as described in the "Directions" section of the USFS trail page.

Description

This is not an easy trail and not ridden much, but should definitely be on the to-do list if you live or ride a lot in the Santa Ana Mountains. The trail is well-defined, and even if you shuttle, expect a strenuous ride.

The trail can be connected with Old San Juan Trail (SJT) trail using Hot Springs Canyon Road in the south and Main Divide Road in the north to make it a loop, but it will take stamina. The Main Divide Road climb from SJT to the trailhead is an M F'er. If shuttled, a truck or 4-wheel drive vehicle can drop you off at the trailhead from the main divide.

This ride is your typical Santa Ana experience, and it feels and is very remote. Expect many short, steep climbs, many of them being hike-a-bikes (HAB). Some of the descents are loose with lots of babyheads. While not extremely technical, bombing the loose babyhead descent can be fun, but equally risky. Towards the end, and when dropping down into the camp, there are switchbacks with steps. All rideable.

Majority has been trimmed back, but there is one section that is very overgrown.
