Description

Putnam County Trailway is part of a larger rail trail system along with the North County Trail and South County Trail that begins in Brewster, NY and ends in New York City. This trail is only a short section of the complete rail trail route. This is a well paved and maintained rail trail that is suitable for families and other activities (roller blading, running, etc.).

Along the path are some benches to rest your legs or get a quick bite. The trail from the northern end starts in a decline before leveling out and meandering. It crosses a lake via land bridge before doing a minor climb.

After some time, there is one part of the trail that has a steep climb and may require some to dismount their bikes and walk. After this, the trail continues to wind through mostly dense tree coverage with some views of the countryside.
