Description

The parking lot fills up due to swimmers, and hikers who tend to circumnavigate the trail around the pond and keep off the Red (and other MTB) trails.

Like most trails at Miller's Pond, the Red is best ridden clockwise. The first (east) half of trail has numerous technical sections, small drops, ledges and larger rocks, connected with short smooth sections. Keep an eye out for all of the log rides for added challenges. The second (west) half has larger sections of dirt singletrack with a few rocks and roots typical of New England trails.

The easier/western half of the trail can also be accessed by starting your ride counter-clockwise around the lake on the main trail, then once you reach the spillway look for a trail heading not around the lake, but into the woods. You can also find the trail starting directly from the parking lot to the northwest. While mostly blazed red, these trails make up what riders call the practice loop, and XC loop.

If you're looking to make a very large loop around the entire park, but wish to avoid the worst of the rocks and technical features, one could start out riding clockwise on the red loop, then take a left at the fork when you first see the yellow (more intermediate) trail, and continue that trail around until it meets the red again, which isn't far from the second/western half of the red trail.
