Check the map at all intersections. Michaux is not well-marked, so double-check before you go down 1000 ft. and have to climb back up; we've all done it.

Overview

This ride has it all; brutal climbs, fast descents and slow tech-gnar. Bring plenty of food and water; 20 miles on the rocks are a lot different from 20 miles of smooth singletrack.

Need to Know

Logging in the area is unpredictable. At the top on Ridge Road is where the companies are most active.

Description

Begin your ride at the Piney Mtn Ridge Rd. parking lot. Ride down the road about a mile and turn right to start climbing Fender. Hopefully, you got a good warm-up in, because these uphill rock gardens will send your heart rate up there and is a good challenge. After Fender, cross Piney Mtn Ridge Rd. and get on My Favorite Huck (MFH). The trail entrance is small, so you might have to look for it.

Once you are on MFH, it will stay mellow for a little bit before turning into a challenging, switchback-y downhill. Sooner or later, you'll cross a small fire road and will really get to open it up. At the end of My Favorite Huck, go straight down another gravel road and turn right at the bottom after the bridge on Grave Ridge Trail. This will lead you to a short, but steep climb that leads you up to a logged area offering great views of the forest. At the top, turn left onto a steep ATV trail (Logging Road Connector), which eds up at 233. Here's where the sufferfest begins.

Cross the road onto Dead Woman's Hollow Road. This logging road is only two miles long but has considerable elevation gain along with some pain.

After you have endured Dead Woman's, ride along the ridge on 3 Mile Trail. This technical trail starts with undulation but eventually turns downhill. At the end, turn right and grind out a punchy climb to the top of Woodrow Road. After this, descend Woodrow Road to 233. If you are looking for a harder way to get down, some steep, gnarly trails are just east of Woodrow.

At the bottom, pick up the Community Trail - Logsled Connector for a little ways and continue to the right toward Logsled Trail (Bendersville ATV trail). This is much more mellow than Dead Woman's and is the last climb on the loop. At the top, turn left onto Piney Mtn Ridge Road, and you'll be at the parking lot in no time.

Rocks, rocks, and more rocks along the Fender trail.

The bumpy tread makes for a rough, but doable, pedal.

It's a little hard to carry your momentum through this rock garden, but it's possible if you find the right line.

Potentially fun but zero markings for MTB , only markers are quads or quads prohibited. Trails have names but zero markings on trails. Still had fun! 11mi
