This is a State Park. The road is closed to cars in the winter months, but you can ride a bike up the road any time.

Description

The first part of the trail is more technical and rocky with some mild exposure, then fun and flowy after the climb. After the tunnel under the road, the trail makes several tight switchbacks up. A picnic trail joins on the way up, stay right.

The hiking-only, Greer Gulch Loop Trail, splits off from this trail at the top, stay right, towards the campground. From this junction, the trail beings to flow smoothly before coming out of the trees towards the bottom.

This trail is best ridden spring and fall. The area only has snow for a short time in the winter and it is hot in the summer and much busier with traffic for the Caverns.

Super fun. Started from the campground and looped around to finish at the main visitor center. I would suggest riding that direction again 5mi — 1h 35m
