Description

Hillzilla is part of the Fort Rock system of trails, and can be accessed either from Red Loop or Tunnel.

The trail is quite difficult, with LOTS of short, punchy, steep climbs, many of which have technical moves that must be accomplished in addition to just hammering to get up the steep. Rocks and roots abound on this trail, so be prepared, especially if it is your first time. It is easy to get surprised and find yourself in an 'uncomfortable' situation. However, I wouldn't say the trail is beyond reach by any means; you just need to be ready to spin hard and low and have your wits about you.

The trail offshoots from Red Loop about 3/4 (or a little more) of the way through. You'll see the entrance straight ahead (instead of heading left to stay on Red Loop), and you'll know exactly what you're in for by the large rocks to either side as you enter. Basically, you would just stay to the right from there. You can also access the trail from Tunnel, which is where you'll end up if coming from Red Loop.
