XX is an advanced trail which runs from the western shore of Saganashkee Slough to an area across the street from the bottom of Dynamite Road. XX criss-crosses Canal trail a few times in the middle and also shares a short segment. The majority of the trail surface is composed of a rock and dirt mixture that was excavated during construction of the nearby Calumet-Saganashkee Channel. As a result, the trail topography features a lot of short ups and downs.

The eastern end of XX lies just off the southwest corner of Saganashkee Slough. The entrance can be accessed from the Saganashkee Slough Boat Launch parking lot on 107th St. by using the Fisherman's Trail on the western shoreline. Alternatively, the eastern end of XX can also be accessed from the middle of Canal trail by using a very short part of the Fisherman's Trail.

The western end of XX can be accessed from the bottom of Dynamite Road by crossing 107th St. Head up and over the large dirt mound on your left or continue straight and turn left onto the lower mound of dirt. Both approaches will converge at the western end of XX. If you find yourself on a flat smooth trail right next to the Cal-Sag Channel, you have gone too far and are now on Canal.

It is important to note that XX and Canal trails run parallel to one another, cross each other two times, and also share a brief section of trail. There will be four 4-way intersections in quick succession that will need to be navigated correctly in order to remain on your chosen trail. For both eastbound and westbound, you'll want to choose the middle leg of each 4-way intersection. When in doubt, go straight. If you find that the trail turns flat smooth and straight, then you've made your way onto Canal.

Features of note are a creek crossing near the eastern end and a challenging rock garden near the western terminus. Keep your momentum up and choose your lines carefully.
