Overview

Very similar to version 1 at Solitude, this course is almost identical, except that it adds upper Queen Bess to each lap, upping the vertical by 100' per lap.

Need to Know

Save some juice for passing opportunities on the doubletrack.

Description

This course combines an uphill dirt doubletrack start, utilizing the service road behind the mechanic shops which connects Moonbeam day lodge area to Last Chance Mine Camp (the upper day lodge area).

After climbing the service road to Last Chance Mine Camp, riders will turn right, continuing on a paved section of Raptor Road before turning right and heading down onto Down & Out.

At the bottom of Down & Out, riders will turn left and ride past the Link Chairlift around Moonbeams's grass, past the base of the Moonbeam chairlift, and onto the Parking Lot Connector, which parallels the parking lot, riding west.

Riders will then transition onto Queen Bess Connector, offering another great uphill doubletrack portion to further help sort divisions out (this one's more of a grind).

At the top of the connector, riders will turn left onto Queen Bess for some great singletrack climbs with switchbacks. At the Serenity/ Queen Bess 4way intersections, riders will stay RIGHT, heading up, Upper Queen Bess, offer a grinding climb until rounding the corner, giving riders a quick straightline descent, popping riders out onto upper Raptor Road where a right turn and another great uphill doubletrack opens up for another great division sorting area. This section involves a gravel & paved road to, until the crest of the road, where it then transitions into dirt service road for a flat spin for about 1/2 miles.

Racers will then turn left and head down Easy Out Krzer Connector, and then left again onto Lower Krzer, for some fast ripping singletrack with very little passing opportunities. Towards the bottom of this section is a fast, steep rock garden that can be challenging for Intermediate to beginner riders.

At the bottom of Lower Krzer riders will turn left and head down Raptor Road for 2 turns of paved road sprinkled with loose gravel (easy on the speed).

Riders will then turn left down onto Down & Out (for a second time, first time was during the start) and ride down to the junction and then turn LEFT and head-up Lower Serenity.

Riders will stay on Lower Serenity and head down and right at the junction back down to Parking Lot Connector.

At Parking Lot Connector LAPS go left (back up Queen Bess Connector ) FINISHERS go right and finish is at the base of the Moonbeam Chairlift.
