Description

When Holiday Valley built their Spruce Lake as a water supply for snowmaking, mountain bikers gained a great swimming hole to cool off in after a long hot ride.

What was lost, however, was the old trail from Holimont over to the state forest. That was remedied by construction of this new, even better singletrack.

It starts from the Holimont XC Ski trail with the appropriately marked "singletrack" sign. It passes through some nice pine forest until it hits the old abandoned Canfield Road. Keep your speed up here because this old "road" is sunk, and you need the speed to get up the other side.

The trail continues along the boundary between Holimont and the state forest, making a sharp left turn up the hill. When you see the big right-facing arrow, this is your clue to take a right. After a quick creek crossing, the trail surfs the boundary between Holiday Valley and the state forest, always seeking the best line. Myriad roots and drainages along the way make this challenging.

The trail ends on Mutton Hollow Road. But don't stop there. Head straight across for the KC Trail.
