Description
Starting in the large meadow, scout for a grassy overgrown trail which becomes more defined and easy to follow very shortly. Contour along the southern edge of the meadow on a bench before heading into the trees on old doubletrack. The switchbacks increase in steepness as you ride higher and the trail surface becomes more overgrown and loose. The extensive tree-thinning operations along the climb makes for a less-than-aesthetic feel, so concentrate instead on the snowy peaks in the distance.
Enjoy some flat riding on the saddle between Vomit Hill and Swan Mountain, then begin the exposed plunge downhill. Almost the entire descent affords great views of the Breckenridge ski area and the Tenmile Range beyond. The best riding on this trail is the gentle singletrack section through a meadow valley. All good things must end, so cross a creek and finish the ride on a precariously loose, steep grade- either landing in the Tiger Run neighborhood or joining the Colorado trail.
