It is recommended to ride this trail in a downhill direction.

In August of 2018, the Town of Breckenridge completed a reroute of Hard Luck, transforming a steep mining road into a flow trail. The trail is downhill recommended. Hard Luck begins at the east end of Fall Classic Trail. The trail features jumps, gaps, flowy berms, and alternative lines, and is a downhill delight.

Intersect Preston Way at the trail midpoint, cross and descend a section of mining road to the continuation of Hard Luck on the right side of the road. Dive into the forest briefly, then cross Gold Run Road and continue downhill through more trail features to the Upper Flume Trail.
