Currently the northbound section at the top near the skyline connector junction is off limits due to fires on the landowner's property.

Overview

Mt Sequoyah Woods is a great place to commune with nature in the heart of Fayetteville. The ride is a straightfoward loop ride best enjoyed clockwise, minimizing the climb and maximizing a longer descent.

Need to Know

Mt Sequoyah Woods has a beautiful pavillion accessed from the main parking area. The structure was built and installed without the use of machines. It's a great place for a post-ride snack or picnic.

Description

Starting at the main parking area behind the park kiosk, bear left to ride Mt Sequoyah clockwise. You'll immediately be pedaling through dense hardwood forest uphill.

It's a steady pedal for a bit with a few punchy, steep switchbacks. As you near the top of the climb, the grade lessens and the tree canopy opens. Stay right (straight) at an established intersection to continue the loop. This is where the trail is accessed by the Skyline entrance.

From here, the descent begins, steep and fast at first. The trail becomes slightly more technical with a few rocks and roots to navigate.

The last two-thirds of the descent are a mix of short climbs and long mellow downhills that wind their way through the forest back to the start of the ride.
