Description

Pence Miller trail follows an historic flume ditch around the east and northeast side of Shock Hill. The trail begins off the Skyway Skiway ski back trail above Mountain Thunder Lodge off of Park Avenue. From Town, Mountain Thunder Lodge is located just north of the intersection of Ski Hill Road and Park Avenue on the west side of the road. Head up the drive, past the condominiums to the ski trail and look for a singletrack across the ski trail. There is a buck-and-rail fence.

The trail enters the forest, crosses a short bridge, then climbs to a contouring trail below Ski Hill Road. Go right (north) at a post, and right again at a fork with the Shock Hill Trail connector after 1/4 mile onto a flume. The trail follows the flume for about 1/2 mile beyond this fork, then climbs for 1/4 mile to Shock Hill Trail.

From the end of Pence Miller, go right on Shock Hill Trail and eventually Toad Alley to access the Peaks Trail.

This trail features excellent leaf peeping opportunities, with abundant aspens.

Relatively flat trail with a few punchy climbs here and there. Mild exposure in some areas.
