Description

This is also known as FS Trail #327, and it's marked with Blue Blazes.

This trail is full of rock drops, eroded ruts, rocks, switchbacks, rocks and the occasional water bar. Leaves down on the trail have a tendency to cover up hidden holes and smaller rocks so use caution when flying down the trail. It is much, much rockier at the top, do not be deceived by the numerous youtube videos that fail to show this part of the trail. It becomes a bit more intermediate as you get farther down.

Be aware when you are near the bottom that this trail intersects the Buckhorn Gap Trail (#103). If you turn right, you'll return to Avery Creek Road a little sooner. If you turn left, you can climb back up to Clawhammer Road to reach more gnarly descending if you're up for a big ride day. Keep straight to continue following Avery Creek Trail to its terminus with Avery Creek Road

With all the spring/summer rains, this trail has eroded into a very technical "downhill".

There also might be an occasional tree down across the trail, so watch out!

If done properly, a smile should extend across your face at the bottom and remember to let your brakes cool off.
