Description

The High School Loop leaves the Mineral Site Trail 0.2 from the parking area on the left (West) on an old forest road (trail sign). It descends moderately to a beaver dam and stream crossing on a bridge. This section can be muddy from water leaking through the dam. It stays mostly level and passes through another open sandy area with restricted views of the Moats.

A short, steep climb brings you to the trail high point and a long, fun downhill section with conditions varying from smooth to rooty. There's been a lot of trail work here especially lower down to avoid the wetter areas and keep the trail out of the mud.

The trail leaves the National Forest briefly and hits a old forest road. This is the end of the singletrack. Turn left at the road (signed) and cross Red Eagle Brook on a snowmobile bridge. The old forest road climbs back up to Forest Road 380, crossing a couple wet sections with bridges and old boards. The High School Loop ends at Forest Road 380, turn left to return to the Mineral Site parking area.

The High School Loop also rides well in the clockwise direction and is more difficult due to increased climbing.
