Description

This used to be a savage climb up A-Basin but has recently gotten a little easier with the addition of the Argentine north fork trail for the first 2 miles.
You then climb the sumer to road to the top of the Montezuma Lift and you'll wonder why you let your friend talk you into this ride. Once you hit Peru Creek Road at the bottom of the trail you'll be thinking "Totally worth it, let's do it again!"

From the top of the Montazuma lift climb the trail that is to the south of the lift. It's well ridden. The top section of this trail is alpine rocks and very exposed. The rock gardens are actually well built and ride-able. Walk them if you are unsure. After the rock gardens end the trail becomes easier for a short bit. Once you drop below tree line the rock gardens return. There are a couple sniper rocks to watch for and it can be loose at times. The trail gets steep, fast and technical. Some sections have lots of roots that are often muddy and wet.

Can be ridden as a loop starting and ending in the Keystone parking lot or as a shuttle.

As always watch for hikers and afternoon storms!

Once you make it down to this meadow, the trail mellows out for a bit and amazing great views.

Looking back on the initial descent. Be careful, a fall here could be disastrous.

Good laps on beavers then took Peru to Key. Great shuttle run. Traverse zuma bowl very intimidating, but great flow chunk once you get to treeline. 17.4mi — 3h 22m

Some sections of brilliance. Some drawn out serious old school jank. Not the best DH run by any means, but an epic descent non the less.

Mileage is Lenawee to peru creek road. I was told a 29er and wearing pads would be helpful. I can see why. Stay Alert the entire time! 3.3mi — 0h 31m
