Description

This dirt summer road winds its way up from the main Buttermilk Mountain ski area parking lot, steeply at times. It's always worth stopping to check out the views behind the Cliffhouse Restaurant when you are most of the way up the mountain. From the back deck of the Restaurant, you'll get awesome views of the Maroon Creek valley and Pyramid Peak, not to mention Aspen Highlands across the valley.

The road continues steeply for another half mile up to the top of the West Buttermilk ski lift where you can find the beginning of the Buttermilk Bowls singletrack trail.

Riders coming from Aspen usually skip the very lowest part of the road, instead starting the climb at the Tiehack side of the mountain, connecting to this road via the Oregon Trail.
