Need to Know
Look for rocks in the trail and be care in the narrower sections. Check your speed since this trail is used by hikers.
Description
This trail starts on Ferguson Lake Road just past the Christian Service Center. You can park at the service center or closer to the start of the trail in the open desert.
It is singletrack except for a small section when it is follows an ATV road in the beginning. It is marked with rock markers and is pretty easy to follow. Always look for bike tire tracks.
After leaving the Fergusion Lake Road the trail crosses a flat camping area (Senator Wash LTVA). It then crosses an ATV doubletrack and drops down into a large wash. The trail is well marked as it heads up the wash.
At 1/2 mile, it goes a bit up through sand and rock, which is fine if you keep up your speed. After this, the trail becomes much more interesting as it works its way into a small canyon. Pretty flat and well used and maintained. Be very careful on the wash crossings. At 3/4 mile, you'll see a trail that goes to the left. This is the Marvins Mesa Trail.
At around the 1-mile mark you see some nice rock art or the reason the trail has its name. The next mile is easily the funniest part of this trail with a lot of turns ups and downs. Be careful on the narrow sections since going off the trail would not be good.
At around 2.5 miles you climb out of the small canyon and are on a flat open mesa. The last section of this trail is flat and easy until it joins the pi trail at about 3 miles. No landmarks and a lot of burro trails so pay close attention to your GPS
