Newer trails in the park, so let's try to see them! As always, these loops are here to challenge you with cardio and tech.
The big lot across from University Village is a UCCS lot and they will ticket you during school hours, 8-5p M-F.
Start by parking in the lot just off N. Nevada Ave. It's the light by UCHealth Grandview and you'll turn off of Nevada Ave like you're heading to Dublin Ave. It's a newer lot, especially since the bigger one is UCCS and you'll get a ticket during school hours.
Start out of the NE side of the TH onto
Pulpit Rock Trail for 0.26 miles to you first insection, hang a left into the switchback. Your next intersection is at about 0.5 miles, hang a right to stay on
Pulpit Rock Trail. When you top out onto the ridge for Pulpit Rock at 0.8 miles, it can be confusing. Follow the trail around the rock feature on your left to a steep uphill, left switchback. You'll go into another right switchback with a rock step up at the end. You're on the right track.
The next intersection will be a left switchback onto
Carousel at mile 1.0. Follow this fast flowey trail with awesome views. Next intersection at 1.45 miles, cross over the doubletrack onto
Lori Cohen Memorial Trail, stay left downhill to a double stack switchback at mile 1.52 onto
Ring Around the Rim. Finally less navigating as you concentrate on some tech.
At mile 2.84, you'll cross over a neighborhood access trail, stay straight to cross over
Pulpit Rock (Lame Duck) at mile 3. Look left at mile 3.1 for
South Hill. At mile 3.37, you'll cross over
Montebello Dr Access to stay on
South Hill.
South Hill ends at mile 4.5 at the start of
Angry Squirrel, continue straight to finish the climb. After a solid descent, you'll intersect
Rockhurst Descent at mile 5.64, hang a left. Mile 5.76 has a left turn onto
Flowy Squirrel.
The end of
Flowy Squirrel spits you onto a doubletrack
Access Road, continue straight. Next intersction at mile 6.3, stay straight. At mile 6.43, go right onto
Parallel. Next turn is at 6.51 miles onto
Shortcut to a left onto
Sneaky Snake.
At mile 6.75, take a right onto
Rockhurst Descent. Stay on this until mile 6.95 to take a right onto
Sandstone to a quick right onto
Waterfall at mile 7.05. You'll intersect
Sneaky Snake, take a left downhill back towards the
Access Road you climbed up. Cross over to keep climbing
Sneaky Snake.
You'll intersect
Mr. Goates at mile 7.3, hang a left. The trail continues right at mile 7.6 for a rough, technical mini-loop. It ends at mile 7.9 with a punchy climb onto
Lori Cohen Memorial Trail, hang a right to keep climbing.
Mile 8.3, you'll pass the switchbacks you descended, keep climbing! Stay left at mile 8.4 to continue onto
Lori Cohen Memorial Trail. At mile 8.84, you'll be on the end of the ridge and the trail descends to the left. There are usually rock cairns here to help find the drop.
Enjoy the descent through various switchbacks and off camber turns. Look for a bermed left switchback at mile 9.6 to stay on
Lori Cohen Memorial Trail. It will end on doubletrack at mile 10.
Continue on
House Hopper North until mile 10.3 to take a left on
Pulpit Rock Trail back to the trailhead!
