Need to Know

Trail conditions, map, and rental bicycles can be reserved at

Parking is at the Montgomery Whitewater Center which also serves food and beer. Access the trails by proceeding trough the park gates then riding the concrete path around the west side of the white water park until it connects with Riverside Drive. It will appear like the public isn't allowed on Riverside Drive, but it is legit. Access with a personal bike is free, bikes can be rented from the Whitewater Center for a small fee. Helmets and closed toe shoes are required for mountain bikers. Hikers, trailrunners and birders are also welcome. Trails are maintained by the Whitewater Center.

Description

The recommended direction is to start on the access trail (currently marked with a 6x6 post). Proceed about 25m then take a left turn marked with an orange blaze. The rest of the trail will be marked by orange blazes. After the turn, there is a steep "down-up" feature before traversing the edge of the wetland for 100m. The trail then does a 180 degree turn around a large sycamore tree and brings riders back across the ridge before veering left to approach the second ridge.

A short climb will bring riders to the center of the hardwoods. Riders will explore both sides of high-ground before paralleling the fence for Maxwell Air Force Base. After the fence, riders will climb with Riverside Dr to their left. Riders will encounter log that has been halved to make a technical feature, before again crossing the access trail. A gentle climb with a few flowy sections will return riders to the top of the access trail where a left turn will bring them back to the 6x6 post.
