Description

Battery Trail begins just before the parking area at The Rock Athletic Complex. Like most trails at Little Creek, it is not signed, but there is blue tape hanging in the trees at the entrance.

It begins on the downhill side of Charles Hagermann Way just as you enter the parking area. The trail parallels the road on the downhill side from The Rock all the way out to its terminus at Rocky Ridge Trail -- approx. 0.6 miles -- and is a good way to access trails at the front of the park without having to ride pavement. It is a new trail (i.e., reopening of a trail that has been overgrown/disused for several years) and still needs riding in.

It has several rollers and drainage crossings, but no major features. Boiling Springs Trail drops off the road down the hill to Trace Fork about half way through. Previously, just past this intersection, the trail popped out onto the road for a short distance (50-75 yards) before ducking back into the trees, but recent trail work in October 2022 added a section of trail so that it now completely stays off the road. However, some areas do have high downslope exposure in several areas.\
