Best access is via the Clown Town Trail (parking on Skyline Drive just south of Iron Springs Road).

Need to Know

There are no signs on the trails in this west Spence Basin area. A map, GPS, or the MTB Project mobile app would be helpful, but the parking area is never far away or difficult to reach.

Description

Traveling clockwise, starting at the Clown Town Trail a few hundred yards west of Skyline Drive, the trail makes a small loop entirely inside the Circus Maximus trail. Initially, the trail climbs slightly until crossing the Clown Town Trail, then descends slightly on the second half of the loop until ending where it started.

This loop can be done in conjunction with the Circus Maximus outer loop and could be done multiple times in a single ride. The trail is fairly lightly used (as of 2022) compared to the larger Circus Maximus loop.

I hiked it and biked it. The trail is underused but in good shape. I built some cairns at trail junctions.
