Need to Know

The road is open to motorized vehicles and sees plenty of traffic between Daniel's Hill Road / County Road 3, and the Crystal Mill. Further up towards Schofield Pass Road #317, you'll typically find much less traffic as the road is fairly extreme, with narrow shelf roads along cliffs above he Crystal River.

Description

The western portion of this road is part of the Lead King Loop, a classic objective for mountain biker seeking great views and challenging rocky roads. The eastern portion is called out as FS Rd. 317 on some maps, and climbs all the way up to Schofield Pass Road #317, where you can connect to the famous Trail Riders Trail #401, and plenty of other Crested Butte area trails.
Many choose to ride this road as an out-and-back from Marble to the Crystal Mill. This is a great option if you don't have the time or energy for the extra vertical needed to complete the LKL with FS Rd. 315.
