Need to Know

Road is open to motor vehicles, and has a reputation for heavy traffic on weekends and holidays.

Description

This road is the northern part of the Lead King Loop (FS Rd. 314 is the southern part), a classic objective for mountain bikers seeking great views and challenging rocky roads. The western part of the road is often smooth dirt, and makes for an easier climb while still quite steep in many places. In comparison, the lower stretches of the eastern end of this road encounter some serious bedrock and loose rock that will challenge most descending riders, and have you pushing if going uphill from the Crystal Mill townsite. Consider a clockwise ride on the Lead King Loop.
