Description
Chandler Creek Loop is one of the newer trails in the area. If taken clockwise, you'll encounter easy, almost boring, singletrack through a beautiful, open forest. You'll slowly encounter a few surprising rocks. The surprises will get a little more fun as you start to head down towards the bottom of the loop.
Near the bottom, you'll see the trail sharply fork with no signage - take the short climb to the right. On the western side of the loop, generally heading north, you are going to find some very challenging singletrack after crossing a fire road. A better term is skinnytrack. A tight trail is carved into the side of a highly cambered hill, and can be covered in loose, shale-like rock. This makes for a lot of fun and concentration.
The eastern start of the trail (if taken clockwise) can be skipped if you're looking for more excitement. If so, start the loop counter-clockwise from Mount Hough Road (lower in elevation) and do an out-and-back.
You can turn back any time you like at the top, or finish the trail counterclockwise on the milder parts. Take a left on Firewood 25N14 and climb a bit to get back to Mt. Hough Road.
