Description

Trail starts right across Oakland Road from where the Liberty Reservoir: Pine Knob Rd. Gate 2 To Oakland Rd. Gate 1 trail ends (there's no gate, look for the opening in the trees).

For some reason, this trail is almost completely ignored and you'll rarely see anybody else on it. Although it is a wide doubletrack fire road, it is not maintained, and is best ridden in spring or fall, as it is frequently overgrown in the summer time.

The experience is pretty typical Liberty Reservoir fire road. This particular trail is undulating, with some short but steep-ish climbs, and is noticeably less rocky than a lot of other area trails. The climb at the very end, though, is a killer! The trail comes out next to a home, stay to the right and follow the woodline to the boat dock road where it ends.

There are not too many good views of the Reservoir on this one - most of it is back in the woods a ways. There is one off-shoot fire road about one-third of the way down the trail that goes to the water, but there have been large trees blocking it for years.
