Take a ride on Reading from the Scenic Loop, go past Hobo and merge onto the south-bound section of Side Step to reach the eastern edge of Locomotive Rock near Bates Well Road.

Expect sandy hardpack with sections of loose rock and deeper sand at wash crossings.
