Access to the top of the trail to shuttle is only open when Pool Table road is open which opens mid May every year. The trailhead at the bottom is open year-round.
Need to Know
More fun to descend than climb, it's not un-climbable but all the red on the elevation map there at the bottom will show you it starts off very hard and can be frustrating, but then you get about 4 miles of manageable climbing after that difficult start.
Great ride down Alder Creek Bench trail. Motorcycles are allowed so some sections near the top are torn to shreds but don't let it get you down, it's temporary and the rest of the trail is magic. Maybe 1 mile in total has been ripped into skree. There is one Hike-a-bike climb through skree you'll have to endure followed by the most technical section of the ride once you go through the gates, but after that it's smooth sailing. At the lower rock pile you can take a right and head down the Black difficulty Palisade trail but def come ready to ride hard. Or stay left and continue down Alder Bench. All in all a great ride.
