It's a wide, graded gravel road that ends in a cul-de-sac about a half mile from the pavement. It allows easy access to the Buffalo Tract BLM lands as well as the west side of the Albuquerque-managed Placitas Open Space.

There used to be a gate at the edge of the pavement, but the BLM district office had it removed in September 2019. Rumor is that there are plans for a small parking area inside the fence, just off the pavement into the BLM lands. If you plan to use this area as a trailhead, be cautious not to park outside the fence as these lots are private property.
