Description
Eye to Eye is a 2.3-mile single trail connecting
Lower Arapahoe to
Ice Hill. This trail is rated as Extremely Difficult going downhill and unridable uphill. Not recommended for anybody.
In the mists of antiquity, when forests were shady and singletracks were tacky and loamy, Eye to Eye may have made sense and been only a difficult, steep, occasionally tricky and sketchy trail. But the trees died, erosion was relentless, and trail maintenance became non-existent. What we have now is a washed-out and often very steep trail that's mostly loose rocks, sand and gravel, root bar, and boulder drops.
Once at
Tunnel Hill Trail, don't be fooled by the mellow few initial meters of trail; it's more of the same badly eroded, loose, rocky, steep, sketchy trail as the upper section of Eye to Eye. Enjoy the fabulous views of Winter Park and the Continental Divide when you get off instead of crashing. Beware the drops; better yet, avoid both trails entirely. The few people still using it are just increasing the trail damage.
The WP Trestle Bike Park map shows a small portion of Eye to Eye and that it is a two-way trail. Absolutely nobody can ride this uphill.
