Description

Access this road from the Heizer Trail. You can see the outside of the switchback 30ft above you as you climb on Heizer. You can also connect to it from higher up via a short piece of singletrack, but there's no reason to make the extra climb. Manitou Springs Utilites allows the public on this road, there are signs giving you directions to the toll road and to Heizer. Please be aware that there can be vehicles, heavy equipment, and personnel on the road, so for the safety of everyone, control your speed.

This road is useful in getting to the toll road, from there, you can either descend to the gate, or head a short distance up to the Crowe Gulch trail which connects to the Ring the Peak Trail. This enables a higher route for RTP, connecting Jones and Lake Moraine Trail through to RTP and bypassing Ute Pass altogether.
