Description

This is the quickest, most direct, and most commonly used route to access the Caperton Rail-Trail from the main parking lot on Monongahela Avenue. Because it consists of hard-packed gravel, this doubletrack trail is typically drier than other arboretum trails. However, the grade is very steep, making the uphill particularly taxing. Providing a direct connection with the Caperton Rail-Trail, the Service Road is the only trail in the arboretum that allows bicycles and is often used as a connector by commuters.
