Much of this route is a doubletrack that services the pasture lands on the treeless top of Monte Subasio. The doubletrack starts near the parking area for the Rifugio Stazzi (mountain hut) and ends at the Sassopiano overlook where there is a beautiful view of the city of Assisi below.
There are a number of hiking trails that intersect at Sassopiano, but the recommended route for mountain bikes is Sassopiano - Madonna della Spella.
