Sassopiano - Madonna della Spella

This is the only singletrack portion of the Giro del Monte Subasio. From the lookout point at Sassopiano, the trail descends continuously along a cross slope towards the Madonna della Spella Chapel. The trail is above the tree line, so you'll enjoy long range views. The area is used for grazing, so expect to dodge the occasional cow patty or cow.

The singletrack portion ends at the 3.2-km (2-mi) mark where it intersects the road to the summit observatory in a hairpin turn. Continue straight (downhill to the right) along this gravel road for 1.6 km (1 mi) until you reach the Madonna della Spella. The chapel sits on a prominent shoulder of Monte Subasio and there is a sweeping view towards the west, south, and east.

There is a lower trail that also passes from Sassopiano - Madonna della Spella signed as route 360. This lower trail is significantly more difficult and not recommended for biking though.
