“A singletrack trail that provides a good after-work ride when you don't have time to head to the mountains.”
— John Reesor
Short distance and easy terrain make it family friendly.
Need to Know
Be careful of patches of very sandy soil that can send you tumbling.
Access this trail by heading north on the levy trail (Twin Peaks Loop) following the Rio Grande (north side of the State Ave. bridge). The Rio Inspire Trail starts on the lefthand side of the levy. Look for a City of Alamosa trail marker sign, which indicates the beginning of the trail.
The singletrack trail winds through willows in the riparian areas of the Rio Grande, as well as dipping and turning through cottonwood galleries. There is next to zero elevation gain/drop, so don't expect a fix if you're an adrenaline junkie. This trail connects to other City of Alamosa Trails including the Outer Oxbow
Loop and the Simpson Loop.
