Description

Start at the trailhead marked Contra Costa County Feeder Trail #1. There is only parking for about four cars at the trailhead.

Feeder Trail #1 starts as a well-used fire road. You pass a number of stables at the start and it is clear by the footprints that the trail is well used by equestrians. After about one mile, you'll reach the entrance to John Muir Land Trust's Sky Ranch property. There is an entrance sign and a paper map is available.

When you reach the intersection at the top of the ridge, turn right to stay on Feeder Trail #1. Continue on the ridge through the gate at the end of John Muir Land Trust's property. You are now on publicly accessible trails that are on private land.

When we visited, the trail was very roughly graded. At about 2.2 miles, the map shows a sharp left turn onto a trail that we were not able to find. Also, a sign at the beginning of the trail says the trail is impassable to Ferndale Rd. So, you are on your own in this section of the trail - I didn't actually ride it.
