Description

This trail follows Barton Creek starting from the Violet Crown Trail just east of Mopac. The trail is mostly wedged in a small space between the escarpment wall and the creek itself. The tread ranges from easy hard-packed sections to large rock obstacles, some of which will probably require a dismount. To get the full Barton Creek Greenbelt experience, you'll have to ford the creek over to the Barton Springs Creek Trail - East either just after the Mopac bridge or just below the swimming area at the base of Sculpture Falls. This western portion of the trail is probably more difficult than the eastern side.

Barton Creek is a beautiful greenbelt not too far from downtown. There are two small waterfalls near this trail (Sculpture and Twin Falls), each with their own swimming hole. There are a lot of trees along the trail and together with shade from the cliff and the creek, this can be a cooler area to ride.

Barton Creek is a popular park with walkers so share the trail appropriately.
