Roman's Rise will keep you looking ahead at every turn for the next section of rocky terrain. The last climb up and over the switchback, however, will require quick bike maneuvering skills and finesse.

Coming out of Randy's Ridge or Rita's Upper By-Pass, the start makes for substantial flow into a quick right hander into a gradual uphill. Little dips into and out of rock wash crossings give the trail a little something to pay attention to.

You'll eventually pass a tree feature where the trail leads to the right. It seems like the trail went left/straight originally, but has since been cut off by branches. Almost immediately after, a rocky ascent out of a wash creates a nice obstacle to try and clean. Trail-goers have since built up a rock ramp over the rock step (it used to be that a technical lunge-up was needing to clean this feature). Heading into the mountain northbound, the trail narrows and gets quite technical with the steep switchback up to Kylie's Crossing.
