Overview

This shuttle ride incorporates Pipeline Trail #668, Kineo Mountain Trail #667, Buckhorn, and Captain Jack's. It is a great way to enjoy the outdoors without dying from climbing the mountain.

Need to Know

Don't take the old Jones Park Trail, it is closed and the fines are heavy.

Description

Start at the Pipeline Trail #668 trailhead and parking area and proceed down Pipeline. Near the end of Pipeline Trail #668, there is an intersection, if you go right you'll head to Seven Bridges on Seven Bridges Trail #622. If you go left it takes you to Kineo Mountain Trail, which has a nice flow with a few climbs. This trail has a great set of rolling hills that sends you airborne almost every time.

Cut into the new Jones Park #667 trail until you link up with Kineo Mountain Trail #667.

From there, proceed down Buckhorn until you hit Captain Jack's. Follow Captain Jack's all the way to the trailhead and your shuttle vehicle. I think this is best if shuttled or you have about another ten miles and a few very rough thousand feet of climbing, the choice is yours.

After Captain Jack's there are many other options to tie into such as Captain Morgan's, Columbine Trail, or The Chutes to get that extra downhill in.

Keep an eye out for hikers and people traveling uphill; they have the right of way and Dirt bikes are also authorized to use the trail.

Climbed Frosty's Shortcut (FS #626) instead of FS #379 for the easier climb and shorter shuttle drive.

Was snowy about halfway down, but then cleared up. Missed the unmarked sesame canyon trail, had to back track for about 30 minutes. 11.3mi
