Due to snow at high elevation, this road is only normally open from June through the end of October.

Description

This strenuous dirt road provides vast, scenic views with the opportunity to encounter a number of significant historical landmarks found in the Western Alps along the way. These range from religious conflicts to the abundant biodiversity of surrounding alpine pastures. Overall, your efforts will be greatly rewarded along this wonderful, historical, and ecologically striking journey.

During the months of July and August, the road is banned to motor vehicles between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.on Wednesdays and Saturdays, which are the preferred days to enjoy it by mountain bike as the road is quite popular among off-road motorists.
